Abstract

Decubitus or pressure sores are serious complications that are often experienced by bedridden patients, with a significant impact on the quality of life and the burden of health services. This systematic review aims to analyze nursing strategies in the prevention of evidence-based decubitus. The literature was collected from PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, and Google Scholar using keywords such as "decubitus," "bed rest," and "nursing strategy." The selection process followed the PRISMA guidelines, resulting in 10 relevant studies from 510 initial articles. The results of the study showed that changing the patient's position every hour was consistently more effective than massage in preventing pressure sores. Technological interventions, such as automatic beds and body support pillows, provide ergonomic and efficient solutions in maintaining the patient's position. Additionally, holistic strategies such as nutrition management, skin care, and the use of specialized mattresses have been shown to support prevention. Education of patients, families, and health workers increases awareness and adherence to preventive practices, although implementation gaps still occur in the field. A patient health monitoring-based approach that includes nutrition, physical activity, and sleep aspects, shows the potential to support more personalized and data-driven compression wound prevention. The integration of manual interventions, technology, education, and holistic monitoring is necessary to build a sustainable prevention system oriented towards patient safety and the well-being of medical personnel.
