Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of antenatal health education on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of pregnant women in preventing anemia through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Anemia in pregnancy is one of the global health problems that has serious implications for both the mother and the fetus, so prevention efforts through antenatal education are very important.

The research method uses SLR by following the PRISMA flow to select relevant literature. The search was carried out on four main databases (PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Web of Science) so that 580 articles were obtained. After going through the selection process and quality assessment, only 10 articles meet the inclusion criteria and are further analyzed.

The results of the study show that antenatal health education has a significant effect in increasing the knowledge of pregnant women about the causes, prevention, and management of anemia. A better level of knowledge is proven to be related to a positive attitude towards anemia prevention. Some studies even noted significant changes in preventive practices, including adherence to the consumption of Fe tablets, iron and folic acid supplementation, and the implementation of a healthy diet. Family-based intervention and the use of audiovisual media are proven to be more effective than conventional methods, because they are able to increase compliance and strengthen social support.

In conclusion, structured, innovative, and family-involving antenatal health education is the main strategy in suppressing the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women. However, there is still a knowledge gap in some regions so that a more intensive, equitable, and sustainable education program is needed.
